Spanning the memorable to the mundane, Small Claims recasts the pages of my parent's insurance claim after their home flooded during a hurricane into an epic, chronological typology – a lifetime of lost possessions purchased from 1950 to 2017.
Evian is Naive Spelled Backwards is a two-sided print that takes the form of an absurdly long cash register receipt. Its subject matter reflects an experimental intervention into Mechanical Turk, a website for outsourcing anonymous internet labor operated by Amazon. I began this work with a simple question: "Who are these (invisible) workers?" and set out to subvert the site's strict policy of worker anonymity by paying them to capture self-portraits.
Clearance 1993 takes the form of an expired, thirteen-page calendar. I made this work in 2010, an identical year to 1993.
